Well, like i said this blog is susceptible to a mind-dump so here it is.
Search results still annoy me. The engine simply can't finger point at what's in my mind, just like my boyfriend. It needs to know what I want, to cut down my search time by a quarter. Yes, I am a novice and want to remain so for a secondary activity like search. Don't expect me to be expert in every other thing in this world... !
Well so i have an idea - Breadthwise and depthwise search.
1. Figuring the context - breadth wise..
How many possible contexts could there be when I search for San Francisco?
- Am I travelling there?
- Do i need a city guide?
- Do i need to locate it on the map?
- Do i need to find a job there?
This is the breadth wise search. The machine suggests me option based on a breadth wise search. But now here's there thing, maybe the machine did think of all this and spans its thoughts across pages and pages of search results. The fact is I don't give a damn, i need the answers in the top 5 search results. Else you lowly machine... you disappoint me.
Is there a way to show all the contexts within the first 5 results?
2. Narrowing the results - Depthwise search
Once the context is fully recognized by the machine, show me the context specific best results. Here one digs the whole deeper. What are the best links to fulfill my context.
- Travelling to San Francisco to study
- Look for accommodation
- Get tickets?
So the web should be a seamless transition when it comes to a goal specific activity is all I am saying...
